Undisclosed Location, Colorado | Unbuilt Concept
Amidst the rugged heights of the Rocky Mountains, a series of monolithic structures anchor into the high alpine landscape. These remote stations serve as seasonal field laboratories for climate researchers studying the region’s plants, animals, soils, and geology.
Perched on rocky outcroppings above valleys and peaks over 13,000 feet, each station houses labs, offices, meeting spaces, and quarters for up to ten researchers, with small temporary shelter spaces for passing hikers. The design is resolute: thick walls, partially sunken into the earth, shield the buildings from fierce winds and snowstorms, asserting their presence in the harsh landscape.
